Description
Storage tanks for diesel fuel are vented to the atmosphere. This venting pulls in outside air, which contains humidity and airborne microscopic bacteria spores. The humidity condenses into water droplets inside the tank, and because it is denser than diesel fuel, it sinks to the bottom and forms an interface of fuel and water. Bacteria can grow on the exposed walls inside the tank and it can be carried down with the water droplets and live at the interface of the diesel and water layer. CLEAN DIESEL contains a special balanced blend of non-ionic wetting agents and surfactants that allow the biocide to penetrate the cell walls of the bacteria and kill them. When the bacteria are dead, the dispersants and wetting agents disperse them to reduce filter plugging. CLEAN DIESEL has a one-of-a-kind time release formula that is soluble in both the fuel oil and water. However, only 25 ppm is soluble in the water phase (only 8 ppm is needed for complete bacterial kill). Once CLEAN DIESEL is consumed by the bacteria and kills it, the portion that is not consumed begins to degrade. This creates a byproduct that causes the 25 ppm concentration to decrease, moving more CLEAN DIESEL from the oil phase to the water phase to maintain the 25ppm needed for long-term killing of bacteria.

Directions
It is a violation of Federal Law to use this product in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. CLEAN DIESEL can be used to eliminate and/or prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi in distillate and residual fuels including Diesel #1, Diesel #2, and Bunker C.
CLEAN DIESEL should be added to the fuel at a rate of 1.25-2.25 fluid ounces per 100 gallons. CLEAN DIESEL should be fed by injecting the product into the fill line as the fuel is being added or added batchwise while the fuel is being added to ensure adequate mixing. For contaminated systems, CLEAN DIESEL should be addedata shock dose of 2.5 oz per 100 gallons. For clean systems, the maintenance is 1.25-2.5 fl. oz per 100 gallons.
