Swine Flu Information
H1N1 BULLETIN: KEEP YOURSELF AND YOUR WORKPLACE HEALTHY!While you may not see SWINE FLU!
blasted all over the headlines anymore,
it’s spreading faster than ever, and
killing both healthy and sick people at
an alarming rate. On June 11, 2009,
the World Health Organization (WHO)
signaled that a global pandemic was
underway. This announcement was a result of the illness spreading to more
than 70 countries, not the severity of the illness the virus causes. Since the
WHO’s declaration, the virus has continued to rapidly spread,
with the United States reporting the largest number of cases. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) is anticipating more cases, more hospitalizations, and more deaths through the remainder of summer and increasing in the fall and winter. YOUR SWINE FLU QUESTIONS ANSWEREDQ: How long can influenza virus remain viable on objects (such as books and doorknobs)? A: Studies have shown that Influenza virus can survive on environmental
surfaces and can infect a person for up to 8 hours
after being deposited on the surface. Use Space Guard to kill
the virus on such surfaces. One fogger will treat an entire room’s
surfaces, so this makes it an excellent choice for hospitals and
sickrooms, day care centers, school buses, locker rooms, and
other public areas..
DISINFECTING HARD, NONPOROUS SURFACES EXPOSED TO H1N1 (SWINE FLU) Always follow label instructions for proper use of disinfectant products. Aerosol Spray Disinfectants:

DEODORIZING OF CLEAN, NON-FOOD CONTACT SURFACES:
Hold container upright about 6 to 8” (1/5 m) from surface, and spray
until target area is thoroughly wetted. Let air dry. Complete disinfection
and Tuberculocidal activity require a contact time of 10 minutes
at approximately 68°F (20°C). Sanitization requires a 5 minute contact
time at about 72°F (22°C). For mildew control, repeat application
when necessary. |
